SR 874 Mainline Improvements and Reconstruction of the Killian/SR 874 Interchange
MDX is about to start construction in the summer of 2008 of this very awaited project that includes capacity and safety improvements to SR 874 mainline from 117th Avenue to Kendall Drive and the reconstruction of the Killian Interchange. The project also includes noise abatement walls along the corridor and enhancements including landscape and hardscape as per the MDX Enhancement Manual. Once completed in 2011 the project will be one of the first corridors to incorporate Open Road Tolling (ORT) which will allow for toll collection electronically through the use of overhead gantries without having to stop at a toll plaza. With Open Road Tolling tolls will be collected only for the portion you drive. MDX will hold public information meetings and a Public Hearing throughout 2009 to set rates for implementation of ORT.
Schedule/Timeline
The final design phase has been completed.
Construction is anticipated to start in Summer of
2008 and is scheduled to be completed by Summer
of 2011.
